Hello yoga community!

We are sharing our most recent newsletter as we approach cooler temperatures, shorter days, and falling leaves.  We hope that this time for you includes someyoga, and perhaps a workshop that will allow you to explore something new and grow your practice.

Yoga For EVERY body – New Workshop
Tuesday’s, 8-9pm, October 4, 11, 18 & 25

We are delighted to announce our newest workshop – Yoga For EVERY body.

Yoga is for everybody. The physical practice of yoga helps to improve flexibility & strength, calm the mind, and improve overall health, but it’s not just for those who may already be strong or flexible.  It’s for all of us, regardless of age, body type or physical limitations, and this workshop is the next step in our mission to have everyone practice yoga.

If you experience limited mobility, are recovering from an injury, have a specific physical issue, or have never practiced yoga before, this 4-part series of classes would be perfect for you!  The classes will be slow-paced, and will be tailored to suit the individual needs of participants.  At the conclusion of the series, participants will be able to transition into classes on the regular schedule – as an incentive, all unlimited packages for participants will be available at 20% off the regular price!

Participants will be in well-trusted hands for this series, which will be led by renowned yoga instructor David Bruni, who has practised yoga for over 35 years.   David is also a shiatsu massage therapist, and has exceptional knowledge of the human body. He has taught and helped students of all levels, ages and abilities. This is your perfect opportunity to start yoga and see where it takes you!

NEW Guided Meditation Classes Wednesday evenings at 6pm with Amanda Vitaro 

There is also still time to join Amanda for her Guided Meditation Series.  In these classes, you will be taken through a brief Yin practice to prepare the body to sit comfortably, which will be followed by a guided meditation. Learn to quiet the chatter of the mind, invoke intentions of love and joy, and connect to your true inner self.  This class is ideal for beginners and is also suitable for individuals with an existing mediation practice who wish to sit in unison with others in the community. Please note that this is a pre-registered class, so students must sign up in advance to attend. Classes started on September 21st, but you can still join in for one or all of the last 3 – and stay tuned for upcoming sessions! Classes are free for Yoga Light Members with any unlimited package, if pre-registered in advance. Investment for non-members is $60.00 (plus HST) for all 4 classes, or $20 (plus HST) for drop-ins (space permitting).

For those of you who wish to explore aspects of your practice in more detail, or are interested in trying something new, one of our workshops may be exactly what you’re looking for. This is what’s in store so far for the upcoming weeks:

Restorative Yoga Workshop with Christina Frondella: 2 New Dates!

Back by popular demand, Christina’s Restorative Yoga workshop has 2 new dates: Friday September 30th, 6:30pm-8pm & Sunday, November 6th, 7:00pm-8:30pm.

Restorative yoga works to bring neutrality to the body. Each pose is fully supported by props (such as bolsters, blocks, blankets etc.) and held for longer periods of time, allowing the body to release tension and stress. Leave this workshop feeling relaxed and renewed. Space fills up quickly and is limited, so be sure to register in-studio or online.

Intro to Yoga Workshop with David Bruni on Saturday, October 15,  2-4pm
Join David Bruni for this 2-hour workshop, designed to introduce new students to the physical practice of yoga in a safe and comprehensive manner. Learning with a smaller class size allows for more individual attention and detailed instructions tailored to your body’s specific needs.  This workshop is also suitable for those with an existing yoga practice, who wish to review the basics or particular aspects of their practice.

Sun Salutations and Tristhana with Mark Morra on Sunday, October 16 from12pm-2pm
The first half of this workshop will break down some basic techniques employed in the foundational asanas of the Sun Salutations. This portion will allow for dialogue between teachers and students to allow clarity and individual attention. The second half of this workshop will focus on Trishtana. Tristhana means the three places of attention or action: Asana, Breathing, and Dristi. When practiced simultaneously, the Tristhana method becomes a tool to steady the mind transforming the physical practice into a moving meditation. This workshop is ideal for beginners who are trying to get a better sense of sun salutations, and for seasoned practitioners who are feeling “stuck” in their practice.

The Art of Dowelling and Yoga with David Bruni on Saturday, October 22, 2 – 4pm
Treat yourself to two hours of Doweling/self-massage and yoga in this innovative workshop created by the very wise David Bruni.  This workshop will focus on highly effective, yet very simple techniques to quickly soften the muscles and tendons and sooth the superficial nervous system. Doweling is a form of self-therapy used to loosen layers of tension and stress that lie beneath the surface of the skin. The sensations created by the dowel are similar to receiving a massage, but you remain in control of the pressures applied.

The Art of Lifting with Mark Morra on Sunday, November 20, 12-2pm
Lifting is a collective effort requiring several muscle groups to be engaged simultaneously. The practitioner’s effort and concentration is intensified, and the end product is light and graceful. This workshop will examine the muscle groups that work together to create a stronger practice with a greater sense of alignment, proper technique, and eventually some lightness. This workshop is ideal for all levels of practice.
