Arm Balances and Inversions

Practicing arm balances and inversions can be challenging but also liberating. Practising these postures can help you overcome fears, grow your yoga practice, become stronger mentally and physically, release stress, reduce anxiety and more.
In this 2-part training, both “starter” and “advanced” arm balances and inversions will be covered, with prep poses, exercise and steps to achieve them. You’ll learn and practice exercises that build stability and fortitude in the core, hands, arms, shoulders and upper back. A mixture of yoga and other strength training modalities will be used. Counter these strength building techniques with yin stretches that release tension and will allow you to relax into the postures.
According to the Eight Limbs of Yoga, the 6th step along the path to Enlightenment is Dharana which means ‘one-pointed’ or concentration. Training your attention to navigate the mechanics of a powerful asana has a soothing effect on the mind. It’s not possible to worry about life’s pressures while practising these poses. The mental effort is enormous and your troubles will dissipate as you play and laugh your way through this training.
The training will cover how to teach this poses in an accessible way, provide adjustments and assists, and how to modify them or provide stepping stones to achieve full expression.
This training is suitable for all levels, as variations and modifications will be provided. This training is also part of Yoga Light’s Advanced 300 HR Teacher Training Program, so all hours can be credited towards this Program. Tax receipts can also be provided for deduction of all tuition paid.
