Intro to the Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga
Time & Location
Learn the fundamentals of the Ashtanga yoga practice in a slow, safe and comprehensive manner. In this 5 hour course, students will be introduced to the physical postures of the first series of the Ashtanga yoga system, including physical mechanics of each pose, breath count, drishti, modifications, benefits and contractions. We will also briefly review the history and philosophy of the Ashtanga yoga system, the current state of the practice, and the mysore approach to teaching and learning the physical postures. This course is suitable for beginners who wish to integrate into the studios led classes, as well as seasoned practitioners who wish to review the basics of the practice.
